    Cinco De Mayo Origins

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexico’s victory against France in the 1860’s. This war took place in Puebla, Mexico the Mexican army had a huge disadvantage going into this war against the french. France which was ruled by Napoleon III decided to send troops to Veracruz, Mexico Because Benito Juarez Mexico’s president at that time hadn’t paid a debt they had with France. The French had around 6000 troops and while the Mexican had7 only around 2000 troops it is said that around 500 French troops and around 100 Mexican troops were lost before the French dec bgt6 ided to fall back and surrender. Here Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with Mexican heritage and culture some cities have parades to celebrate the Mexican’s victory in Puebla.  Cinco de Mayo isn’t really celebrated all around Mexico but it is celebrated in the state of Puebla with parades and recreations of what happened that day in 1862.
