Who started Mother’s Day?

Mother’s Day came from a Woman named Anna Jarvis. Anna Jarvis was born on May 1, 1864, and is from Webster, West Virginia in the United States.

How did Anna Jarvis start Mother’s Day?

Anna Jarvis’s mother hosted Women’s groups to promote friendship and health. Her mother always wanted what she did to become a holiday for women. When Anna’s mother died on May 9th, 1905, Anna held a memorial service for her mother on May 12th, 1907. According to Google within 5 years every state observed that day.

When did Mother’s Day become an official holiday?

Mother’s Day became an official holiday in 1914, when it was signed by United States President Woodrow Wilson.

Anna Jarvis began to hate Mother’s Day because she didn’t want the holiday to be used for profit but something to show love to our mothers for.

Anna Jarvis then passed away on November 24, 1948.
