An Explanation of Key Club

There’s a world of service that lies in wait at our school.

While there are plenty of ways to garner community service hours, some ways have more benefits than the others. Such a way is Key Club, an international community service club that is 100% run by students. And it just so happens that Montclair is a powerhouse in its area.

Racking up over 400 hours of service, Montclair has made its mark. But Montclair isn’t alone in this world of Key Club. There’s hundreds of clubs surrounding it, with thousands of students to meet. Key Club—at its core—is community service, but it’s so much more than that, too. It offers lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, and memories that can’t be created anywhere else.

In Key Club, there’s a division. Up to 14 schools comprise a division. Divisions are labeled by a mascot (ours is a beluga, while Rancho Cucamonga is a giraffe). Up to 8 divisions form a region (both Montclair and Cucamonga are lionfish). All regions in California, Nevada, and Hawai’i form a district (CNH bees). There are several districts (ex. Texas), and all districts form Key Club International.

So, from building Rose Floats to attending night markets, there’s a world of service to explore. One that offers so much more than you could ever imagine.

Sienna Villalobos
Hi everyone! My name is Sienna Villalobos, and I'm proudly serving as one of the editors for the Clarion! I was in journalism my freshman year, but had to take a gap year for color guard. In my free time, I love reading, writing, and talking to friends. On campus, my pride and joy is Key Club. In journalism, I hope to have fun, write fun stories, and meet lots of new people! Someday, I'll be the #1 writer in the world (trust).
