Many different cultures celebrate different holidays and eat different dishes. Different countries have their own traditions and traditional food for the holidays. Here are just some of the different dishes around the world

France- Buche De Noel

Buche De Noel is a dessert served after a Christmas feast and is a rolled sponge cake covered in coffee or chocolate buttercream.  Buche De Noel is a Traditional dish in France because of the desert being in a bark shape. This represents an ancient tradition: the burning of yule log. The burning of yule log brought a new year without any misfortunes because they were burned in the flames.

United States- Roast turkey

Roast turkey is a traditional USA dish usually served with mashed potato with gravy sauce, and turkey stuffing. Eating turkey comes from New England because at the time there was plenty there. Turkey’s size made it economical for a larger crowd. Turkey was often giving to the army for the soldiers to eat during thanksgiving.

Mexico- Tamales

Tamales are a traditional Mexican dish on Christmas and are made out of maize dough filled with different types of meats, beans or cheese. They are wrapped with corn husks or banana leaves. They are a tradition because they were considered portable food given to the federal army during a battle. After the revolution the tamale was considered a national food.

Philippines- Lechon

Lechon is a roasted whole pig usually seasoned with salt and pepper and occasionally lemongrass. It is a Filipino traditional food because it usually means that it’s not going to be a small get together but a massive get together with friends and family.
