The Right to Resist Oppression

Each year the number of new colonial settlements have broken records and the number of dead Palestinians reached new highs. This is the nightmare with which October 7th’s violence has emerged from, a mere faction that has burst out from behind the walls of Gaza, where the violence is kept quiet and away from prying eyes

More than 80% of Gaza’s population depend on humanitarian aid for survival. 85% of detained Palestinian children have been subject to physical violence. 62% of children in Gaza live with depression or anxiety. People are so tightly packed inside Gaza it has become one of the most densely populated places in the world. Should you wander within 300 meters of the border fence IDF soldiers are ordered to shoot to kill. Many Palestinian children have been killed for straying too close.

Whilst the zionist project has been a violent and brutal creature since its realization, the last 12 years in particular have seen a sharp escalation in Israeli state violence and the emergence of a seemingly defeated Palestinian people, internationally isolated and without hope. It is hard to find a place on earth closer to hell than the Gaza strip.

In the coming months and years, as western media returns to newer and shiner things, Israeli state violence will only worsen. The colonial settlements will expand, the evictions will become a flood and the utter extinction of Palestine will be complete. This is the explicit and open goal of the Israeli administration.

This cycle of bloodshed will continue until either one of two things happen, A) the Palestinian people are completely and irreversibly wiped out or B) the occupation comes to an end. And so far all its historical complexity and nuance the Palestine – Israel “conflict” is in fact a very simple one. The choice between an end to apartheid or an end to Palestine – as a people, a dream and a memory – could not be more clear. It is time the watching world made their choice. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!
