Lifeline Card

Lifeline Card

Gilbert Silaban, Staff Writer

Schools, specifically Montclair High School, have been passing out these lifeline cards that can save lives. The card can be used to call a number posted there if you have any life issues or suicidal thoughts. There are a series of numbers on the card for various issues you may have. It also has a set of instructions of how to get help and who to give the card to. The cards are created by the office and get passed out to every class in the school. This card is really effective because it is much easier to look for resources to get help. Both students with or without the cards will get the same amount of help but those who do have the card will be more willing to call for help than those who do not. The idea of these cards is not to deny students the ability of communicating their feelings in a more straight-forward way, but mainly to guide and support the students that struggle with explaining or repressing their feelings. While there are many ways for students to speak up, this is another resource that can really make a difference in a student’s life.
