For the first time, the World Cup takes place in the Middle East. In the city of Al Khor, the main stadium Al-Bayt has taken on the pride of holding this year’s World Cup, along with other stadiums such as Khalifa International Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Stadium 974, Education City Stadium and Al Janoub Stadium. On Sunday, November 20th, the opening ceremony took place with award-winning actor Morgan Freeman and performer Jeon Jungkook from BTS. The ceremony showcased Qatari culture with Qatari singers Fahad Al-Kubaisi, Dana, and Ghanim Al Muftah. From singing and dancing to motivational speeches, many were left impressed and amazed.

Starting off the World Cup, Qatar and Ecuador play against each other with a score of 0-2, with Ecuador taking the win. As teams begin to play each other and some get eliminated, fans are left disappointed and frustrated. Especially the game of Mexico v Saudia Arabia. Though Mexico won the game, it was not enough to get them to the next round.

With a total of 32 teams and 64 matches, the World Cup will, unfortunately, end on December 18, 2022. We had 4 teams left going into the semifinals: Argentina, Croatia, Morroco, and France. On December 13, Argentina will play against Croatia and on December 14, Morroco will play against France. Whether it be Argentina or Croatia, Morroco or France that win to go into the finals, we should cheer them on and congratulate them all for their hard work and dedication to have continued on for a long time.

So now the question in mind is: who will win the World Cup this year? With Argentina winning the match against Croatia and France winning the match against Morroco, the final winner could either be Argentina or France. Fans start to get anxious with the fact that there are only two possible outcomes to this year’s FIFA World Cup. Because it is Lionel Messi’s last World Cup, Argentina fans are rooting for their team to win as it is his last time playing. This riles up all the fans to see who the winner will be in this year’s World Cup.

In the end… who do you think will win? Comment down below who you think will win and/or any thoughts you have about the World Cup!
