On February 29th, 2024 Montclair High School hosted a Career Day which gave all students the opportunity to listen to speakers who have a career in cosmetology, air force, painting, nursing, police academy, chef, army, real estate, and many other careers that most students would be interested in. Students got to choose what career they would be most interested in listening to and afterwards all speakers were escorted into the big gym where they each had a table to place out items that represented or showed an example of what their career is based on and students got to speak to them directly and ask more in-dept questions into what they go through on a daily basis. One thing that stood out to me was the couple of Montclair High School students who are currently participating in the police academy also got to represent the police officers and motivated MHS students to join the academy.  This event most likely did help out those seniors who are still stuck on not knowing what career they want to take and we hope it most definitely opened their eyes into all the options there is out there. Giovanni Bonilla is currently a senior at Montclair High School and this is his opinion on Career Day, “Career Day helped me come closer to discovering what I wanted to accomplish and showed me what is required of me. It helped a lot of people see the possibilities and I learned things I didn’t know about my career path”. Therefore, I hope MHS keeps hosting this event because it was a eye opener for many and it was a fun way to show students and teach them more about the adult life and reality of life after high school.
