Shakespeare Seniors

Shakespeare Seniors

“Thou canst not say I did it; never shake thy gory locks at me.” A quote by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Our Montclair senior classes are reading Shakespeare books, we’ll be getting some opinions on the different books, Macbeth and Othello

“The book is whatever, I find it interesting but it’s hard to understand without the translation,” stated one senior. The books include a translation on another page that helps students understand the book a little better. Some students have trouble understanding the way Shakespeare writes, especially when he uses such words as “Thou”, “Thoust”, or “Thy”.

Another senior had stated, “It’s wack, and we have to do a play for our final.” There are plays that are reenacted, the most famous one being Romeo and Juliet. Some senior classes are very different, some students must memorize 20 lines out of the book, or reenact a play.

Students like this fellow senior feel that “Shakespeare is really interesting, his words fascinate me but some acts are way too long.” Shakespeare’s books are divided into different acts with a lot of monologue but that’s ultimately what makes Shakespeare’s books that much better.

Besides all the dramatic lines, deaths, and royalties, our 2024 seniors are almost done with their last first semester of high school! Wish our seniors good luck on their finals, and good luck to every class with their finals, GO CAVS!
